Surely this isnt the first time you realized that homelessness exists in Vancouver or to this extent?

of course not - i do wonder to what extent it differs from other cities. It seems like in Vancouver the homeless are all hanging out in the same Hastings neighborhood, so they're relatively easily avoided (which is why the issue probably gets overlooked...) For example in San Francisco there were junkies all over the place. How did the "bad part" of Hastings form?
